Machinist
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Department Head of Production,while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Machinist is responsible for creating quality parts produced on various lathes and milling machines and general shop equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other type of diagrams. Responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints and manuals to determine production processes and requirements of inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. The machinist will detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities controls, or control media as required to insure quality of production, and report all machine malfunctions. The lead machinist will be familiar with all types of machinery
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to lead, coach and mentor staff
- Ability to monitor and manage workloads
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and material for the job and setup requirements.
- Loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits,
- Set up machining equipment
- Set up and program machinery
- Provide verification of dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments
- Fit and assemble components
- Inspect quality of parts for conformance requirements
- Detect equipment malfunctions
- Adjust machining to reach tolerances required
- Keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment
- Comply with ISO quality program and procedures
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machining tools including computer numerically controlled tools
Working Relationships
- Cooperates with and coordinates work activities with fellow employees.
- Identifies and reports defects and non-conformance to Fabrication Supervisor.
- Discusses productivity and quality issues with Fabrication Supervisor.
Environmental Conditions
- Fabrication environment: foot, eye and ear protection required on the shop floor, ‘business casual’ in the offices
- Frequent noisy work environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent
- Post secondary diplomas or certification in a related field
- Completion of 4 years of work experience in the trade
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to edit existing programs
- Conversational programing experience would be an asset
- Knowledge of precision measuring equipment, such as calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges
- Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bar, fixtures, inserts and other accessories
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
- Communicate in English both written and oral as it relates to the job
- Be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Must posses basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose calculating material fabrication
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
- Able to fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Accurate and highly analytical
- Experience in training and mentoring new recruits
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude with the ability to work independently with little supervision

Fabrication support
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Fabrication Supervisor,while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Fabrication Support is responsible for assisting the Fabrication department with general labour tasks such as rolling, detailing parts, by grinding, deburring or cleaning parts, or completing final assembly of parts products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grind & deburrs parts
- Assemble products
- Prioritize work orders

- Non-computer controlled saws, drills and punches.
- Grinders, sanders and deburrers.

Qualifications
- Manitoba Grade 10 required.
- Ability to read, write and speak English required.
- Proficiency in reading drawings an asset.
- Recent relevant experience in Metal fabrication preferred.
- Ability to operate Fork lift /or experience an asset.
- Physically fit, considerable standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible to complete work assignments in a fast paced environment.

Facility Maintenance Assistant
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Department Head of Production & Maintenance Co-ordinator while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency, accuracy, and customer service, the Facility Maintenance Assistant individual is responsible for performing general building and machine preventative maintenance & housekeeping tasks.The building facility maintenance individual may also perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs found within Champ Metal Fabrication
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties and task indoors and outdoors
- Cooperate and coordinates work actives with fellow employees
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklist on building maintenance
- Ensure tasks completed in a timely fashion
- Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets and bathroom fixtures, sweep and mop floors, empty waste paper baskets, wiping down walls, ceilings, and restroom stalls.
- Sweep and mop lunchroom floors, clean and wipe down fridge, counter area, sinks, fridges and microwaves, clean and empty trash.
- Assist with sweeping floors, emptying trash and cleaning machine equipment as required or directed
- Ensure required maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance tasks, trouble shoot install and repair plumbing fixtures, piping and related equipment
- Change furnace and air conditioning filters as needed
- Complete minor construction / general carpentry functions
- Replace and fix broken windows, doors, door locks etc.
- Maintain accurate and upto date maintenance records
- Schedule routine maintenance and inspections
- Provide general status reports of ongoing maintenance work and concerns.
- Maintain outside grounds (snow removal, ice, grass cutting etc.)
- Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required
- Report unsafe working conditions or items in need of attention
- Maintains a safe work environment and complies with safe work procedures
- Other duties as assigned or arise based on business requirements and needs
Equipment Used
- Vacuum, mop, broom, cleaning supplies, shovel, and other related cleaning tools
Working Relationships
- Co-ordinates work activities with Head of Production and Maintenance Co-ordinator and internal staff.
Working Conditions
- Formal work week of 40 hours
- On occasion, work weekends
- Work both indoors and outdoors(mostly indoors)
- Safety equipment required (steel toed safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection)
- Typical manufacturing environment
- Physical strength and manual dexterity
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 lbs
Qualifications
- Post-secondary school diploma in a related field or completion of a craft apprenticeship, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3(three) years of work experience in equipment/building maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Mechanically inclined
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
- Ability to complete and follow through with overlapping tasks
- Ability to comprehend and communicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing

Expeditor Support
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Fabrication Supervisor,while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Expeditor is responsible for accurately assembling and organizing work material with the use of detailed blue prints and drawings for multiple departments within the production plant.
