Champ Metal Fabrication processes sheet metal across four primary alloy families:

• Carbon steel
• Stainless steel
• Aluminum
• Copper alloys

Using automated Amada 12 kW (12,000 W) fiber laser systems, Champ processes bed sizes
up to 120" x 60" with cutting tolerances of  ±.015".  Maximum material thickness limits include:

• Carbon steel: Up to 1.0"
• Stainless steel: Up to 0.75"
• Aluminum: Up to 0.75"
• Copper alloys: Up to 0.25"

For quotes, Champ prefers DXF or PDF drawings with complete dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications. STEP or IGES files are accepted for 3D models. Production requires finalized CAD files in DXF format for laser cutting, plus assembly drawings if welding is required. Champ can also work from physical samples or sketches for reverse engineering, though this may affect quote accuracy and lead time.

Yes. Champ delivers turnkey contract manufacturing through comprehensive in-house secondary capabilities:

• Welding & forming. AWS-certified and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB W47.1 for steel, W47.2 for aluminum) MIG, TIG, FCAW, spot, and laser welding, supported by CNC brake presses, tube lasers, and CNC milling machines.
• Finishing. Electrostatic liquid painting and powder coating utilizing a 12' x 24' x 8' booth for heat-cured, chip-resistant coatings.
• Assembly. Hardware insertion, subassembly integration, and complete turnkey mechanical assembly.

Champ is happy to provide in-depth plant tours upon request and aligned scheduling. Plan for approximately one hour to walk the facility and have a trusted partner describe equipment, process standards, use cases, and answer any questions. Champ welcomes the opportunity to show off its facility.

To receive the most accurate quote, please provide DXF or PDF drawings, the quantity of parts required per order cycle, and the timing and required scheduled delivery of finished goods. Other helpful information includes surface finishing specifications, critical dimensions, packaging requirements, and level of inspection above and beyond FAI. The more information provided, the quicker Champ can align with your needs.

Champ accommodates both prototyping and production volumes. Minimum orders start at 50 units for most laser-cut parts, though smaller prototype runs (10–25 units) are supported for first-article validation and design testing. There is no maximum — Champ regularly handles 10,000+ unit annual production programs.

Standard delivery schedules include full quality inspection and ISO 9001:2015 documentation:

• Prototypes (10–25 units): 8–12 weeks, inclusive of First Article Inspection (FAI) approval
• Small production Runs (50–500 units): 4–6 weeks
• High-volume production (1,000+ units): 6–10 weeks

Dual production centers in Winnipeg, MB, and Jamestown, ND, offer flexible scheduling to accommodate expedited orders based on shop capacity.

Yes. Champ's engineering team supports design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback and handles engineering change orders (ECOs) throughout production. Revision control is maintained on all drawings, and customers are notified of any manufacturability concerns before production begins. Change orders during active production may affect lead times and pricing depending on complexity and material inventory, which Champ communicates transparently before implementation.

Champ focuses on medium- to high-volume production for key heavy-equipment and infrastructure sectors:

• Agricultural equipment OEMs. Loader arms, undercarriage panels, frames, and mounting brackets.
• Construction & heavy machinery OEMs. Structural chassis components, protective housings, and lifting reinforcements.
• Transportation & infrastructure. Component manufacturing fully compliant with U.S. Buy America and Canadian ITB standards.

Champ maintains formal certifications supporting strict technical and audit standards:

• Quality system. ISO 9001:2015 certified across all operating units.
• Welding standards. Fully certified to Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB W47.1 for steel, W47.2 for aluminum) and American Welding Society (AWS) specifications.
• Safety. MADE SAFE certified (Canadian facility).

An independent Quality Assurance team oversees in-process checks and final testing, including:

• Dimensional inspection and tolerance verification against CAD models.
• ASTM D3359 cross-hatch adhesion testing and dry-film thickness verification for powder/painted coatings.
• Complete heat-number traceability from raw sheet stock through finished goods.
• Full documentation packages, including First Article Inspection (FAI) and Certificate of Compliance (CoC) reports per shipment.

Champ supports U.S. and Canadian government-funded procurement programs through tailored sourcing and manufacturing structures:

• Buy America / Build America Act. Complies by manufacturing directly at the Jamestown, ND facility or by utilizing certified U.S.-melted materials in Winnipeg, MB.

• Documentation & audit trail. Provides complete material origin certificates, process logs, and final assembly records required for federal compliance audits.

Champ coordinates shipping via the customer's preferred carrier or through established logistics partners. Standard packaging includes protective wrapping for coated parts, custom crating for large assemblies, and palletized shipping for volume orders. Just-in-time delivery schedules can be accommodated with planning. International shipping is available with proper export documentation. All shipments include packing slips, inspection reports, and certificates of compliance.
